Early in 1915 the 鈥楤limp鈥?or 鈥楽.S.鈥?type of coastal airship was evolved in response to the demand for a vessel which could be turned out quickly and in quantities. There was urgent demand, voiced by Lord Fisher, for a type of vessel capable of maintaining anti-submarine patrol off the British coasts, and the first S.S. airships were made by combining a gasbag with the most available type of aeroplane fuselage and engine, and fitting steering gear. The 鈥楤limp鈥?consisted of a B.E. fuselage with engine and geared-down propeller, and seating for pilot and observer, attached to an envelope about 150 feet in length. With a speed of between 35 and 40 miles an hour, the 鈥楤limp鈥?had a cruising capacity of about ten hours; it was fitted with wireless set, camera, machine-gun, and bombs, and for submarine spotting364 and patrol work generally it proved invaluable, though owing to low engine power and comparatively small size, its uses were restricted to reasonably fair weather. For work farther out at sea and in all weathers, airships known as the coast patrol type, and more commonly as 鈥榗oastals,鈥?were built, and later the 鈥楴.S.鈥?or North Sea type, still larger and more weather-worthy, followed. By the time the last year of the War came, Britain led the world in the design of non-rigid and semi-rigid dirigibles. The 鈥楽.S.鈥?or 鈥楤limp鈥?had been improved to a speed of 50 miles an hour, carrying a crew of three, and the endurance record for the type was 18? hours, while one of them had reached a height of 10,000 feet. The North Sea type of non-rigid was capable of travelling over 20 hours at full speed, or forty hours at cruising speed, and the number of non-rigids belonging to the British Navy exceeded that of any other country. These two statements as to undercarriage designs may appear to be contradictory, but in reality they do not conflict as they both showed a greater attention to the importance of good springing, combined with a desire to avoid complication and a mass of struts and wires which increased head resistance. I thought you were a stickler for people keeping to their own station, and not aping their betters! Weasel. [Shaking his head.] There鈥檚 some others I know seem running the same road. I hope it may prove so. Tell me, first, how is Mrs. Algernon Ancram Errington? Oh! I'm very glad. 日本一道本不卡免费播放,在线不卡日本v二区,韩国日本免费不卡在线 Smoking and reading, ma'am. Poor Uncle Val! exclaimed Castalia, dropping the letter from her hand. "I was afraid he was ill." Horatia. How he started when he recollected himself.... I feel for you, Mr. Errington, he said. "If I did not, I shouldn't put myself in the disagreeable position of saying what I have said. I should have attended to my own business, and let matters take their course. I hope you believe that I had only a kind motive in speaking?" Of course you're not bound to say anything to me, you know, Mrs. Errington, he went on, after a short pause. And as he spoke he bent nearer to her, to rouse her, for she seemed neither to hear nor to see him. "You'd better go home now at once, you don't seem very strong."
